Introduction to the HCM Swimmers Club
Why swim with us?
Swim with us, if you are fortunate to live in Wellington or are a visitor. We welcome swimmers of every ability, and status, who are over 20 years of age. The age restriction is in keeping with NZ Masters regulations.
Many swim for fitness alone, challenging themselves in workouts by swimming against their own best times. Others challenge their goals through competition, by regularly attending swim meets with other team members. Our membership covers of all levels of experience.
History
The Harbour Capital Masters (HCM) originated in the early 1980s as New Zealanders realised that they did not need to stop actively swimming once they moved into adulthood. You can read a more detailed overview of our history here.
Structure
HCM is run by an elected committee consisting of a president, treasurer, secretary and four social committee members. If you would like to contact the committee their email addresses can be found on the contact us page.
HCM was registered as an Incorporated Society in March 2002 and is governed by a constitution.
